Birch Meadow School All School Play Day – 2019

This year  Birch Meadow School will hold an All School Play Day on Wednesday, March 13th.   Barrows School began celebrating this day in 2017 and in 2018, Birch Meadow students and staff joined in the celebration. This day celebrates unstructured play through student exploration and discovery.  Global All School Play Day was on February 6, 2019, however we were not able to join in on that day.

On All School Play Day, students can bring to school toys and games that they can carry themselves and do not require adult transportation.  The restriction is no electronic games, electronic devices or things have to be plugged in to work. Some ideas for students to bring are:

  • Non-Violent Toys (no weapons)
  • Legos, blocks, cardboard boxes, etc.
  • Dress-Up (we will have recess that day so clothing must be appropriate for outdoors)
  • Puppets
  • Stuffed Animals
  • Board Games
  • Card decks
  • Puzzles

*NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES*

To celebrate play further, we have scheduled recesses for all grades K to 5 even though it’s a Wednesday and we do not typically schedule Wednesday recess for grades 1 to 5.
