The Reading Coalition for Prevention & Support Advisory Board, made up of stakeholders from our community and region, will serve in an advisory capacity to:

  • Exchange and share information that will enhance our community approach to substance abuse prevention and mental health promotion.
  • Supply Reading Coalition staff with feedback on activities, projects and emerging initiatives.
  • Spread the word about coalition resources and events

Save the Date for the Reading Coalition Annual Meeting on 9/29/2021 from 7-8:30 (Reading Memorial High School). We will celebrate our regional partners including Eliot Community Human Services, Mystic Valley HUB Team, MA Department of Mental Health and Melrose-Wakefield Inpatient Psychiatric Unit for their collaboration with the Coalition on the supporting the mental health needs of local residents..

Pat Shannon, the RCASA Board President welcomed the audience and acknowledged the Board. Pat reminded the audience that RCASA was in their 10th and final year of federal grant funding. He encouraged the community to support RCASA's efforts to continue their work. 

Erica McNamara, Director, presented the highlights from the last year including the national award that RCASA received for the 2017 educational series called 'Reading Unites for Recovery'.


Sherri VandenAkker, Board Member, provided a thought provoking and inspired speech with guidance on facing a family member's addiction. 


Rich Abate, Board Member, presented an award from the RCASA Board of Directors to Erica McNamara, for her 10 years of service to the people of Reading. On Behalf of the Board, Joanne Senders presented Erica with a framed photo and quote from the board. 

Bob LeLacheur, Town Manager and Board Member, emphasized the unique role that public service employees play in our community.  He announced that Erica McNamara was resuming her role as the Director of RCASA on Monday October 1, 2018.  

The meeting concluded with a short business agenda item to review and accept the Treasurer's Report.
